Blue Square Bet Conference Premier play off final at The City of Manchester Stadium AFC Wimbledon promoted to League 2.
21st May was an incredible day for me. Having only received Conference accreditation late on Thursday 19th, a hasty chase around for transport got me on the Womble Underground Press (Dons Guestbook) special coach for just a tenner. Left home at 6.30 am and caught the coach in Wimbledon. As for a touch of class the WUP team had made arrangements to stop at Leamington FC for refreshments on the way up. About an hour into the journey Wagner the Brazilian Don took our orders and phoned ahead. When we got to LFC all the bacon was cooked and rolls and coffee were waiting for us, a nice touch.
Arrived in Manchester - singing the theme to Coronation Street at about 1.30 having been a little delayed by a strange accident, a collision between two Jags!
Almost immediately met up with Andy Nunn and collected passes and went into the Stadium and joined the hordes of media and photographers from PA, Action Images, Getty Images and the rest inc Chris Hatton. So jealous of all their kit. Really enjoyed the match, very tense great atmoshere, felt like a proper photographer. Nailed Seb Browns two penalty saves, a little soft. I felt really privileged to go on the pitch during the celebrations, with the rest of the photographers. Arrived home about 1.30 with about 1400 pictures
Downside is I do not qualify for Football League accreditation and galleries that I have been doing for Don's fans are not allowed by Football DataCo that control the media at this new level.
